Bavarian advertising agency, Adverma, successfully uses Quark Job Jackets to reduce costly production mistakes.

“Thanks to Quark Job Jackets we save a huge amount of time and money on each project.”

Services offered by full-service advertising agency Adverma range from corporate identity (CI) strategic development and graphic design to public relations. The agency designs brochures, direct mail shots, ads, posters and flyers, and sets up and designs websites.

Upgrading from QuarkXPress® 6 to version 7 in January 2007 has meant significant change for the day-to-day work of the agency: Georg Obermayr, Technical Director of Adverma, was immediately bowled over by QuarkXPress 7 and delighted with the Job Jackets® technology: “The advantages are obvious: our publishing process is fully defined by the Quark Job Jackets PDF presets. We no longer have any need to configure specifications manually. And since Job Jackets are an integral part of the document, everyone working on it uses the correct settings from the start. Even color management configurations are communicated to our graphic artists in this way — it’s simple to use and totally reliable.”

Every document is based on a pre-defined Job Jackets file located on a central server. So creating a new document is now child’s play: Open QuarkXPress 7, choose File > New > Project from Ticket,  select the Job Jackets file on the server using output specifications and start designing. All settings and resources, such as styles and colors are pre-defined.

Before publication, all documents are checked against the configurations in the Job Jackets file. Any mistakes, such as images inserted in RGB format, wrong color management settings, or even electronically modified fonts, are immediately identified and listed. “When you create a Job Jackets file, QuarkXPress gives you the possibility of defining solutions using a help message. I can explain clearly to the graphic artists the meaning of error messages and give an idea of possible solutions,” explains Georg Obermayr. “Our Job Jackets haven’t affected our workflows or changed any of our processes. This is both true of our Special Colour Management Job Jackets and our own graphic presets. We’ve had to relearn a few procedures here and there, but this was not a problem. Today, thanks to Quark Job Jackets, we save a huge amount of time and money on each project.”
