This project is focussed on one of my greatest hobbies, Karate. This is the final major project for my foundation diploma in graphic design. This part of my project is a preliminary design for a new, contemporary, training manual.

My idea stems from Karate, a formula I have been using for my recent work. More specifically I will be looking at the movements involved and how they interact within the space they occupy. I want to produce graphical work that communicates the ideas and components of karate in a visual format that is both informative and aesthetically pleasing. I want to embody the powerful yet subtle nature of the art through a range of visually expressive visual aids. Overall I will define a more contemporary view of karate compared to the current, traditional style.
As well as my university projects i am working alongside my karate club and aiming to re-design their training manuals.

This is only a preliminary design and I am planning to experiment more with different materials and layouts. Any comments and feedback you have will be much appreciated and valuable for my evaluation on my course.
