Founded in 2000 by Denis Polf and a team of journalists and graphic artists with a complementary range of skills, Solutions Presse focuses its research on the development and evolution of the daily press and periodicals. Solutions Presse is behind many new newspaper layouts.

It was back in 1991 that Caroline Paux, art director for Solutions Presse first tried QuarkXPress and she has used it ever since to produce publications, brochures, invitations, and books. Since December 2006, she has been using QuarkXPress® and is one of its greatest advocates. “While QuarkXPress is perfectly suited for the fast and accurate production required by daily or weekly newspapers, it also has all the tools for producing a glossy magazine that requires imagination, colour, and a modern and varied layout.”

Caroline Paux’s work consists of designing new layouts for newspapers and producing journals and magazines. She likes to design “newspaper layouts that are easy to produce and can be managed by paste-up artists or production secretaries using templates and clear and precise style sheets. I use it above all for daily newspapers in the French Overseas Territories and Departments, all of which work on Mac® and QuarkXPress (Le Journal de l’Île de la Réunion, France-Antilles Martinique-Guadeloupe-Guyane, La Dépêche de Tahiti, Les Nouvelles Calédoniennes), and in Morocco for the daily newspaper, Le Matin.

She has a clear preference for “all the functions for managing and creating shadows and transparency.” She says, “It’s natural as it’s new.  But there are loads of others... I’ve used this application practically every day for the past 15 years and I’m still discovering new features. That says a lot about the richness of the tool! I also particularly like the new tool bar at the bottom of the page.  It means that everything’s on hand.”

She’s always open to new challenges and is currently working on a new website for Solutions Presse using Quark Interactive Designer™.
