Global teams at the world’s largest newspaper, Metro International, collaborate with QuarkXPress

“All Metro editions carry headline local, national, and international news in a consistent and accessible format and design, so the ability to collaborate and share content is becoming increasingly important. QuarkXPress enhances collaboration with Composition Zones and Job Jackets. These features allow all Metro journalists and a network of freelancers to reach new levels of productivity and efficiency”

Metro International is the largest and fastest-growing international newspaper in the world and has recently been awarded the accolade of 'World's Largest Global Newspaper', by Guinness World Records®. Metro International publishes 70 editions in 100 major cities in 23 countries and in 19 languages across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. Metro has a unique global reach that attracts a young, active, well-educated metropolitan audience of 23.1 million daily readers and more than 42 million weekly readers.

QuarkXPress® is used across Metro’s global network to produce 8.7 million copies of its free newspapers on a weekly basis. However, with large teams working across numerous time zones and continents, having such an extensive global reach creates its own challenges. Now with Composition Zones® in QuarkXPress, multiple users can collaborate on a single layout and instantly synchronize all text, colour, and design wherever they are in the world, enabling them to operate as a truly global newspaper. All editions of Metro across the world look exactly the same and this design consistency is achieved using Quark® Job Jackets®.

“All Metro editions carry headline local, national, and international news in a consistent and accessible format and design, so the ability to collaborate and share content is becoming increasingly important. QuarkXPress enhances collaboration with Composition Zones and Job Jackets. These features allow all Metro journalists and a network of freelancers to reach new levels of productivity and efficiency”, said Michael Mendoza, global IT director of Metro International.
