8x8 London Logo Revealed
June, 9th 2009 posted by Sarah Harwood

ilovedesign.com has announced the winner of its 8x8 London logo competition. Designers were asked to develop a logo to capture the fast paced creative energy of the event, which will bring together 8 of the UK’s most influential designers to share their inspiration for just 8 minutes.
We had a great response to the competition and the standard was extremely high. However, the winning logo was selected because it was a simple but effective idea that captured the essence of the event. The logo also worked well across different media, and had an obvious, fun animation which was demonstrated well in the concepts. We want to say a big thank you to all ilovedesign.com users who took the time to enter the competition.
The winning logo was designed by Paul Richards, an experienced creative who studied Media & Design: Graphic at Portsmouth University and has since worked extensively at numerous publishing houses including BBC Worldwide, Cedar Communications, Dennis Publishing, Emap, Guardian Media Group, IPC, News International, Redwood, Rodale Press, and Zone Content.
Richards who was previously Art Director at August Media, went back to freelance at the start of 2008 to pursue other interests, including contract and freelance projects. He is currently hoping to have work included in influential designer David Carson's next book.
Paul Richards, competition winner added "I wanted to convey the moment of clarity associated with a flash of inspiration, using a logo with an economy of form that was both bold and playful, and whose character complimented the existing branding of the 'ilovedesign.com' community."
The winning logo design can be seen on ilovedesign.com and is currently being used on all event branding.
