Site Refresh
April, 15th 2009 posted by Sarah Harwood

If you're a regular visitor to ilovedesign.com you'll have noticed some changes! Web sites must evolve in order to continue to engage visitors and reflect the continuing evolution of the world we live in. There are plenty of examples of badly received Web site evolutions - just do a search on Facebook for ‘Old Face Book' and you'll find over a million members belonging to groups pleading for the return of the old version of the site. We hope our site refresh will be better received.
Before we went live with the changes to the site, we invited graphic design students and staff from the London College of Communication to tell us what they thought. As a direct result we made a number of design changes. Thank you to everyone that participated and provided valuable feedback.
So what's new and why have we changed it? We had two important objectives in mind with the latest update to ilovedesign.com. Firstly we wanted to provide an even easier route into all of the great design work on the site. So you'll now see featured designers appearing on the home page and new ways to explore the gallery including easy browsing of the most popular designs, latest uploads and Flash projects. Don't worry, if you want to stick with the gallery wall that we had previously, just click ‘Show me all projects' on the gallery page and you'll find it just as you remember it.
Secondly we wanted to encourage more dialogue both between users as well as with the staff that run ilovedesign.com. You'll notice the latest user comments on designs are much more prominent but you'll also of course notice our new blogs that you're reading now.
We'll have people writing about design related subjects and design tools as well as articles like this to tell you what we're up to with the site and to get your feedback directly. This is your site so tell us what you like, what you don't like and how the site can best meet your needs as designers. Let me get you started....Would you like us to focus more on jobs and making it easier for you to promote yourself to potential employers? How about having a way for the site to enable you to directly monetise your designs? Who would you like to see us bring to the site next in our exclusives section? Do you like competitions? Want to know more about local design events? Would ilovedesign.com on the iPhone be a good addition so you can browse and show off your design portfolio on the move?
We can't wait to start the dialogue with you.
